IoT Skills and Platforms
The following is the course outline with links to the materials for the IoT Skills and Platforms short course. It is expected that you are familiar with Linux and have done a little programming before. If you are unsure of your level, please take a look at the materials here, which forms the assumed knowledge for this short course.
The expected student workload for this course is either 25 or 50 hours, varying with whether you opt to take the unit with assessment, which will provide 1 credit point towards a Murdoch degree.
Pre-course prep
Complete the Cisco Connecting Things Reading - No requirement to complete the activities, we will do our own set face to face
Day 1
- IFTTT
- Install Raspberry Pi OS and basic networking
- Raspberry Pi and Basic Electronics
- Raspberry Pi and Sensors
Homework
- Link Brilliant smart plug with IFTTT or voice assistant
Day 2
- BluetoothLE on a Raspberry Pi
- Running the Raspberry Pi as a Bluetooth Peripheral
- IR Automation with the Puck.js
- Wrap up social networking with industry
Optional Post workshop Asesssment
Produce a 10-minute video presentation video describing and documenting how you have integrated the IoT equipment into your home or work life
